Bob Henley, a native of Greenville, Texas, has spent the past forty-seven years of his career giving leadership as a pastor to congregations, in business, as a conference speaker, and as a board member to not-for profit institutions. His travels have taken him to Asia and India, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
He has served as an Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor and Head of Staff with congregations in suburban Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Wichita, Kansas, and Sun Valley, Idaho. He has been responsible for budgets in excess of four million dollars and staff leadership of thirty-five persons. Through his career he has been involved in raising in excess of of twenty-five million dollars for capital projects.
His business background began in a family owned hardware store in his hometown. For seven years, he worked as a partner in a small executive search firm in Los Angeles that did contingency searches in all aspects of the property-casualty insurance business.
He has had extensive leadership experience in non-profit boards. He served as chair of Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley Youth for Christ; as vice-chair of the Sterling College (Kansas) board of trustees; as a trustee for The Outreach Foundation of the Presbyterian Church; and as a community board member of the St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center.
In his doctoral work, much of the emphasis was in the area of organizational development. His contribution to both congregations and organizations has been in understanding leadership responsibility for the creation of healthy cultures based on shared vision and values, accountability and collegiality. These are keys to true success in fulfilling any organization’s mission and vision.
Bob currently serves as the Chaplain-in-Residence for the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. He and his wife Jane are there eight months out of the year, and spend their summers at their home in Sun Valley, Idaho. Bob and Jane are the parents of three married adult children and six grandchildren who live in Colorado, Idaho and Sweden.
