About Operation AMPED

Operation Amped provides surfing instruction to seriously ill, injured, and/or disabled U.S. servicemen and women and their family members. We directly support ongoing weekly Recreation Therapy efforts at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and also provide separate single and multiple day surf camps. Our most popular event is the annual 3 day camp at Camp Pendleton where we host up to 25 veterans and their family members for three days of surf, fun, community, and hopefully sun. We have co-sponsored events on the gulf coast, the east coast, and in the U.K. In the last three years, we have developed a mentor program where participants that have discovered their passion for surfing can share their experience with other veterans. Currently we are exploring the possibility of providing events for more specialized groups such as military sexual trauma (MST), survivors (spouse and kids), and substance abuse recovery.
