About Heroes on the Water

Our national program provides an outdoor therapeutic experience, and yields independence, hope and recovery through mastery of a new sustainable life skill. Every Heroes on the Water event across the country brings together warriors and their peers for guided kayak fishing excursions at no cost to the veterans or their families.

We provide basic kayak fishing instruction, angling clinics and paddling classes for participants with skill sets ranging from beginners to the most experienced sportsmen. The program also assists these personnel in adapting these newly developed skills to their restored abilities. Adaptive kayaks, kayaking accessories and angling equipment are offered on an as needed basis to accommodate a soldier’s particular needs.

Eligibility

Warriors must have served in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces to participate. Families and caregivers of the participants are invited to participate where chapters have the resources to include them in the events.
