About Canines for Service

CANINES FOR VETERANS (CFV) – a national program that trains service dogs for our wounded and injured warriors. The program is one of-a-kind and the only full-time prison service dog training program in a military prison using military prisoners to raise and train the service dogs that we provide to veterans with disabilities. The program is known as a triple win: rescuing shelter dogs, rehabilitating military prisoners and giving our Veterans back a new found independence with the gift of a service dog.

Eligibility

Veterans must complete a comprehensive application for a service dog, be qualified by our reviewers, and once matched with a service dog attend a one week training that is individualized for the Veteran to learn to work with their service dog. The Veteran is expected to sign a service dog placement agreement.
